Hipercard is a Brazilian company that manages credit cards under its own brand, headquartered in Recife, Pernambuco, and is currently controlled by Banco Itaú Unibanco.

After the Bompreço and Walmart chain stores underwent a change in control in 2019, the card gained a new layout and expanded its business scope, being divided into two versions: the national one, with its own brand, and the international one issued with the Mastercard brand.
Hipercard's business covers the entire national territory and is concentrated in the Northeast and South regions. Hipercard is the credit card administrator of the Itaú Unibanco Group, which has owned the brand since 2008.
Hipercard acts as a credit card brand and issuer. The cards issued must be requested at chain stores such as Walmart and Sam's Club. It is worth noting that there is no option to request the card online.
Hipercard cards have nationwide coverage, and were initially issued only with their own brand, but this was one of the disadvantages, as it was considered difficult to find a machine that accepted payment with this brand, except in partner store chains.
However, now there is also the possibility of requesting your card with the Mastercard brand, this adds a lot to the card in terms of acceptance, since the brand is one of the most accepted in Brazil alongside Visa.

How do I apply for the Hipercard?
