What is an Athlete Grant?
This initiative is known as one of the largest direct athlete incentive programs in the world.
The program has been active since 2005 and it benefits high-performance athletes who achieve good results in national and international competitions.
With this initiative, athletes can dedicate themselves more exclusively and calmly to training and competitions in Brazil and abroad.
Prior to 2012, candidates who received the Athlete Scholarship could not have other sponsorships.
However, in 2012, with Law 12.395/11, athletes who receive financial aid can now have other sponsors.
In this way, in addition to the Athlete Scholarship, you can count on other resources that will generate even more opportunities and even improve your performance, since you can dedicate yourself even more.
The program is divided by category, with the Podium Athlete category being the highest.
Since 2023, it has included athletes with the greatest chance of winning medals and reaching the finals in the Olympic, Paralympic and South Olympic Games, a sport that recently entered the program.

Who can participate?
Just to highlight what has already been mentioned, high-performance athletes, practitioners of sports that are part of the Olympic or Paralympic games, can participate in this program.
The group mentioned above is a priority in the program, but it is not the only group that can participate.
The benefit is also intended for athletes in non-Olympic games.

How to apply for the Athlete Grant?
In this topic we will explain in detail the step by step for those who wish to participate in the Athlete Scholarship 2024.
Initially, sports confederations indicate to the Federal Government the events valid for granting scholarships.
So, the Ministry of Sports launches the notice, which has already been launched in some Brazilian states this week.
After reading the notice, the athlete who reached the podium in the scheduled competitions can register for the program through the website: www.esporte.gov.br.
When you access the home page, search for or type the name of the program in the magnifying glass. Then, open the page and click “Start”.
It will be necessary to send the relevant documentation for each category, information that is also contained in the notice.
After registration, the candidate will receive a login and password to monitor their registration in the athlete's restricted area.
The list of winners is published in the DOU and also on the official website of the Ministry of Sports.

About documentation
Many features and requirements of the program may vary depending on the category, but there are some documents required in common for all, namely:
- CPF;
- ID;
- Declaration issued by the National Sports Administration Entity;
- Declaration Issued by the Sports Practice Entity.
Furthermore, another document that must be presented by candidates in all categories is the Annual Sports Plan.
It must contain information about training, event participation records, titles, objectives, goals and competition schedule.
Participants in the Podium Athlete category must also present a medical certificate.
If selected, the athlete must send the Terms of Adhesion.
Another important step is the accountability. The athlete must prove that he/she remained active in sports while receiving the Bolsa Atleta.
In fact, returning to the subject of our introduction, it was for this reason that PA had his scholarship suspended. But he started receiving it again after he returned to training.
In 2024, there was also a Paralympic athlete who participated in BBB and also received this scholarship.
Although Vinicius Rodrigues' stay in Brazil's most watched house was brief, receiving his benefits was threatened during his stay.
This is because the Federal Government stated that it was not notified of Vinicius' participation in the reality show.
