That's exactly what we'll see next, so don't miss it!

Who is entitled to Gas Aid?

The first thing we must understand is the eligibility criteria, that is, who is entitled to Gas Aid.

Just like Bolsa Família, Auxílio-gás is a benefit that is part of the guarantee of access to minimum income.

For this reason, the main criteria for receipt are related to the family's income classification.

Therefore, your family group must have per capita income less than or equal to the value corresponding to half the current national minimum wage.

It is worth mentioning that this is a cumulative benefit, therefore, families receiving Bolsa Família or other similar benefits are not prohibited from receiving it.

In addition to income criteria, it is crucial that the family has updated registration in the Single Registry (CadÚnico), carried out at the CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center) in each city.

However, if the family has a member who is a beneficiary of the BPC (Continuous Benefit Payment), it is also possible to receive the Gas Aid, even without registration.

In this case, this will be deposited together with the holder's benefit, following the BPC payment dates and the regularity of payment of the aid.

How does the application process work?

Joining the Gas Aid is actually quite simple, after all, there is no specific registration or even the need to participate in classification processes.

This is because the Gas Aid has the Single Registry as its database, so that the eligibility of families is established based on the information present in the Single Registry.

Therefore, if your family meets the income criteria, simply keep your registration updated and wait for inclusion.

This inclusion occurs automatically in cycles, so that the system periodically identifies families eligible to receive it.

After this classification, the benefit is released and deposited into the beneficiary's account according to the expected regularity.

It is worth mentioning that if you receive Bolsa Família, you are likely to qualify for Auxílio-gás, since the income criteria are the same.

So, if you still don't receive this second benefit, just wait, as it is likely that inclusion will occur soon.

See how to access the benefit

Finally, we just need to explain about receiving it, after all, you already know the eligibility criteria and the membership procedure.

We will start by talking about values, because there has recently been a change.

Since January 2023, the amount received has increased from 50% of the national average price of a 13 kg gas cylinder to 100%.

This means that, if the national average is R$ 120.00, the amounts paid for Gas Aid will also correspond to R$ 120.00.

It is worth mentioning that the values change according to the month, as the national average also changes with frequent price increases and decreases.

So, once the amount is clear, we can talk about the payment procedure itself.

This occurs bimonthly, and is deposited together with Bolsa Família or BPC, in a previously informed bank or digital account.

If no account is provided, the benefit will be deposited in a Caixa Social Savings Account in the name of the family group representative.

It is worth mentioning that if the representative of the family group does not have an account, Caixa will automatically open one, and it will be possible to access it through the Caixa Tem app.

It is important to note that there is a deadline for using the benefit, so if the amount remains in the account for a period longer than 120 days, it will expire and it will not be possible to use it.

So, as soon as the amount is deposited into your account, try to use it to buy your gas cylinder, in order to guarantee the benefit for your family!
