Announcements

Since 2023, the former Auxilio Brasil has been renamed Bolsa Família, and has brought into force some of the previous rules and requirements.

However, the average value of this benefit is the highest in the entire history of the program: R$670.00.

In today's text you will find more details about this benefit: how it works, who can receive it, how to sign up and much more!

What is Bolsa Família and how does it work?

O Bolsa Família It is a social program implemented in Brazil aimed at promoting social inclusion and combating poverty and inequality.

Created in 2003, during the first term of current president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the program became an important public policy, benefiting millions of families across the country.

This initiative is a conditional income transfer program, which means that families that meet the criteria receive monthly financial assistance from the government.

The value of the benefit varies according to family composition, per capita income and the existence of children, pregnant women and adolescents in the family.

One of the fundamental characteristics of the program is conditionality, that is, beneficiary families must fulfill certain obligations to continue receiving the benefit.

These obligations include school attendance by children and adolescents, who must be enrolled and perform well at school, and also undergo health examinations, such as vaccinations and monitoring of child growth and development.

In the case of pregnant women, it is essential that they are undergoing prenatal care and have their exams and vaccinations up to date.

Who receives the benefit?

Bolsa Família

This benefit is intended for families in a state of poverty and extreme poverty.

This group includes people with a per capita income (per head) of no more than R$218.00.

In other words, if your family consists of 3 people, the sum of the family income to receive the benefit must not exceed R$654.00.

After registering for the program, to continue receiving the benefit it is necessary to follow the other requirements that were already mentioned in the previous topic, such as:

✅Children must be enrolled in school and not have many absences. For children up to 6 years old, it is necessary to have 60% attendance on school days.

While for children over the age of 6, this percentage rises to 75%.

Other important conditions involve:

  • Vaccinations up to date;
  • Registration update (every 24 months or when there is an update to registration data and family income);
  • Nutritional monitoring (weighing every 6 months at the health center).

How to register for the New Bolsa Família and how to receive the benefit?

If you meet the requirements, go to a CRAS office in your city to register in the Single Registry and request that your family be included in Bolsa Família.

According to the Ministry of Social Development, there is no fixed deadline for approval of the benefit.

There have been cases where a person was approved after one month, three months or even more than that.

This process may also depend on the demand of each municipality, therefore, when receiving service, you should ask the attendant how long approval takes.

You can find out if you have been approved in different ways, such as:

  • CRAS;
  • Bolsa Família application;
  • Has Box;
  • Call Center by number 111;
  • Single Registry.

If everything is correct with your CPF and the information is complete, the Digital Social Savings Account is automatically opened in the name of the family member responsible.

You can manage this account through the Caixa Tem app.

Additionally, you can check the calendar, receive important messages from the government about the benefit, and see when the benefit will be available.

Through this app, you can also use Bolsa Família funds, that is, use the money to make Pix payments, pay bills and much more!

Recent changes to Bolsa Família and their impacts

Since the beginning of this year the Bolsa Família returned to its original name and with it, some important conditions for the maintenance and good performance of the program returned.

Public policy and economic experts see the return of these conditionalities as positive and essential to provide consistent and unified social assistance to these families.

With these conditions back, governments, states and municipalities can reach the families that need it most.

This way, there is a guarantee that they are having access to education, through a reduction in school dropout rates.

They are also gaining access to healthcare, through increased vaccination numbers, nutritional monitoring and monitoring of pregnant women.

Another important impact is on the economy, since these families now have a greater transfer of value to invest in food, education, etc.

It is important to highlight that these conditionalities are not only the responsibility of the beneficiaries, but also of the state.

For example, the public health network must be able to provide monitoring for pregnant women and provide vaccines.

In addition, he must identify where the most vulnerable families are and ensure that they have access to appropriate care.

Other social programs of the Federal Government for families in vulnerable situations

In addition to the New Bolsa Família, the federal government has other programs aimed at families in vulnerable situations.

In fact, some of them can be added to Bolsa Família and make the withdrawal bigger.

An example of this is Auxílio-Gás, a benefit that guarantees beneficiaries of the former Auxilio Brasil a bimonthly financial transfer equivalent to the full value of a gas cylinder.

The Vale-Gás calendar follows that of Bolsa Família, and the amounts are deposited into the same account.

Therefore, if you receive R$600 in benefits, every 2 months, this amount will be approximately R$712.00.

In addition to Vale-Gás, we highlight other benefits from the Federal Government, such as:

  • Social Electricity Tariff;
  • Continuous Benefit Payment;
  • Popular Telephone;
  • Senior Citizen Card.

In addition, these families are also exempt from fees in state and federal public examinations.

Conclusion

The New Bolsa Família It is a Federal Government income transfer program that has lifted millions of Brazilians out of extreme poverty.

With the benefit amount, these families can invest in food, education and health.

See if you can receive it and go to the CRAS in your city to sign up!
