    How does Renda Cidadã work in the state of Goiás?

    It is estimated that more than 300,000 families in Goiás are below or on the verge of the poverty line. 

    In this scenario, the Citizen Income program created by the Goiás state government is a social measure to support these families.

    This program was established by Law 13.605 of March 29, 2000, regulated by Decree 5.211 of April 10, 2000, and expanded by Law 16.831 of December 11, 2009 and Law 19.319 of May 23, 2016. 

    Since the state is the manager, it is the state that defines the complementary rules of this program. 

    In addition to the financial transfer, the program has other initiatives aimed at improving the lives of beneficiaries in different aspects.

    These initiatives include, for example, opportunities to enter the productive market and micro-credits.

    Caixa Econômica Federal is the program's operating agent, i.e. the one who makes the financial transfers.

    However, the amounts come from the financial resources of the state of Goiás.

    Who is entitled to receive Renda cidadã?

    This program has a target audience, which are families in Goiás who are not socially or financially vulnerable. 

    However, in order to be eligible, you have to meet the eligibility rules, as it is through these that the state maintains the program.

    The families for whom Citizen's Income are registered by the Goias State Government itself.

    In addition, they should not be beneficiaries of Brazil's largest cash transfer program, the Bolsa Família. 

    The families are divided into two groups: I and II.

    Group I includes families with members aged 65 or over, or people with a disability or illness that makes it impossible to work. 

    Group II includes low-income families in a situation of vulnerability or social risk. 

    What are the conditions of the program?

    As already mentioned, the financial transfer is made by Caixa to beneficiaries who have been registered and maintained by the Goiás State Government. 

    Beneficiaries need to meet the requirements as well as the conditions, which are listed below: 

    • Meet the income limit (monthly per capita income of R$150.00, limited to R$697.00).
    • Proof of residency of at least 3 years in the state of Goiás.
    • Not participating in another municipal, state or federal cash transfer program.

    In addition, the beneficiary must provide proof of enrolment and attendance at vocational courses and training offered by the public authorities.

    This last condition can be fulfilled by the family representative or by another member of the family group of working age. 

    It is important to note that Group I families are reassessed every 24 months to confirm their socio-economic status. 

    What is the value of the Citizen's Income benefit?

    The average value of Renda Cidadã Goiás is R$ 150.00, divided as follows: 

    • R$100.00 Basic Benefit;
    • R$10.00 Variable Education Benefits;
    • The Variable Health Benefit is R$40.00.

    The payment schedule follows that of the Bolsa Família, according to the beneficiary's NIS number. 

    Withdrawals can be made through Caixa's self-service channels, branches, lottery shops and Caixa Aqui correspondents. 

    This process can be carried out using the Social Card made available by the Goiás State Government. 

    The installments have an expiration date, so it's important to pay attention to this detail; the deadline is 90 days after the funds are made available.
