Receiving BPC is essential for families facing vulnerable situations, whether related to health or financial issues.

Announcements

However, it is not enough to simply reach the age of 65 to receive it, just as not all disabilities give rise to the right to BPC.

Therefore, we will now see, in detail, what the eligibility criteria are, that is, who is entitled to BPC, as well as seeing other explanations about the application process.

Therefore, if you want to complete your application process without any doubts, don't miss the content below!

Who is entitled to BPC?

By now you certainly understand what BPC is (if you haven't seen it yet, check out our first content on the subject by clicking here).

Therefore, you know that this is a benefit intended for the elderly and people with disabilities that cause long-term impairment.

This is because the purpose of BPC is to provide financial assistance to those who are unable to support themselves financially through work.

Announcements

However, it is not enough to be over 65 years old or have any type of disability to receive it, because the BPC also has income criteria, so that only those who classify as low income can receive it.

This means that elderly people over 65 who do not classify themselves as low-income are not entitled to BPC, and the same goes for people with disabilities.

Furthermore, not all disabilities guarantee the right to the benefit, but only those that make it impossible to work for a minimum period of 2 years.

This means that the disability must have a report, which attests to the impossibility of working for at least 2 years.

With everything properly explained, check out a summary of the requirements to receive BPC:

  • Elderly people over 65 years old;
  • People with long-term disability;
  • Per capita family income of up to ¼ of a minimum wage;
  • Have a registration with CadÚnico.

How does the benefit application process work?

As we saw previously, one of the basic requirements for receiving BPC is to have an up-to-date registration with CadÚnico.

Therefore, before opening your application process, it is important to check how your family group is registered in the Single Registry.

Check if the information is up to date, and if it is not, do so before submitting the application, since the income criteria will be assessed based on information from CadÚnico.

After updating your registration, the first step of the request must be to access the Meu INSS website or application.

This is because the BPC request is made with the INSS, and the request must be monitored through the institute's service channels.

  • So, start by accessing Meu INSS, using the applicant's CPF;
  • Then, look for the “New Order” tab and select the “BPC” option;
  • Choose between the options “BPC for the elderly” or “BPC for people with disabilities” and fill out the corresponding registration form.
  • Once this is done, check whether the system requests that you send a document for analysis. If so, send it as soon as possible.
  • Once this step is complete, simply complete the request and monitor the progress of the process in the “My Orders” tab.
  • Don't worry, the process will be carried out by INSS, and you will receive all updates on your request, as well as being called if your request is approved.

Is it possible to lose the right to BPC?

If your request to receive BPC is approved, you will become a beneficiary and will receive all the information about when the payment will begin.

From this stage onwards, the benefit will become continuous, meaning that you will continue to receive it as long as you meet the criteria.

This raises a common question: after all, is it possible to lose the right to BPC?

As we saw previously, BPC is not a type of retirement and is not permanent, as it is granted based on criteria.

Therefore, if the beneficiary no longer meets the basic criteria, the benefit may be suspended.

This could happen on 2 main occasions:

1. If the family income bracket changes, and the family no longer classifies as low income;

2. If the impediment of the disability changes, allowing the person to return to work.

Therefore, keep in mind that this is not a permanent benefit and may be suspended if the rules for granting it are no longer followed.

So, now that you know how the application process works, don't forget to apply if you've identified that you're eligible!
